Our story

Hi, my name is Tony and my journey in cynology began in my youth when I bought a black Labrador named Sanny. She was not a female with a pedigree, she was a companion for life. Together we wandered the paths of Podyjí and experienced the everyday joys of life. When Sanny left at the age of twelve, a quiet emptiness remained behind her and with it a clear realization that a dog is a part of my life.

I started searching, reading, discovering and came across the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever breed. I was immediately excited. And so in 2017, the first Toller dog, Drogon, entered my life.

With the arrival of Drogon, a completely new part of my life began. Together with his breeder and my show mentor, we jump into the world of shows. And not just anyhow, we traveled almost all of Europe, participating in all types of shows, club, national and prestigious international shows including the European, World and legendary Crufts. It was a journey that shaped both of us, and so shows are a part of us.

In 2022, we bring a female Afi, daughter of Drogon and the Austrian female Ayu. She is a typical female with an excellent exterior and a strong personality, but her character is different and that is where I see the magic.
Every dog is a personality and each one brings something new.

In addition to exhibitions, we also do training, especially Working Tests and Tolling Tests, which are historically part of the breed. We have also tried many dog sports and some of them we still do today, mainly various obediences OB, RO, IGP..., Dog Puller and our big passion is OCRC obstacle races with dogs.

The experience I gained with my dogs became the basis for my decision to start breeding. A kennel is not a destination, but the next step on our journey together.

The Thayensia kennel bears a name inspired by the landscape in which I grew up and where I still live with my dogs.

A picturesque wine-growing area on the border of the Podyjí National Park and its Austrian part, Thayatal, where vineyards smoothly alternate with deep forests and rocky valleys, where the Dyje - Thaya river meanders quietly and forms a natural border between the Czech and Austrian, nature and culture, peace and wildness, where nature is not a backdrop, but a part of everyday life.

And so I believe that everyone who takes a puppy from us will take with them not only a dog with a pedigree, but also a piece of the Podyjí, a piece of our philosophy and a story that they will be able to continue to develop in their own way...
